Hey Aaron, saw your post about this on LinkedIn and gave the demo a spin. I played it to completion.

The Good:

  • Variety of Enemies
  • Ambiance (sounds) were persistent and came on strong
  • Low-poly PS1 horror was largely nailed artistically
  • Environment layout / level design
  • Presence of a boss fight
  • Melee felt tight and satisfying to use for the duration of the demo (probably would be a bit tiring without change for longer).
  • Demo was sufficient in length and drew me in well.

The Meh:

  • The first enemy (torso) made me laugh due to the nature of its attack. Detracted from the atmosphere.
  • Ambience (especially in start of school level) was cranked up to 10 with nothing happening - pulled out of immersion since I could no longer think it was related to a threat.
  • Character motivations and how the story involved the player didn't seem to be explained or elaborated.
  • Lockers, too many to open with nothing in them (opened like 50 and only found 3 or 4 with something inside).
  • Interactables didn't have a outline when hovering over them.
  • I couldn't tell how much damage I could take from a given enemy. I was able to take 5 hits from a torso before dropping to 'OK' - other enemies seemed to drop me down a level in 1 hit.
  • Boss fight felt a little too simple for me.
  • Could not throw ball, literally unplayable 0/10.

The Bad:

  • The enemy with a sword did not feel telegraphed to be immortal at all. Burned all ammunition and health kits on it.

Introducing an immortal enemy when all other enemies are killable needs some really special recognition - perhaps just consider making it killable as I can't see what real benefit making it immortal does otherwise (just make it tankier than your average).

Best of luck with your endeavors :)

Thanks so much for all the feedback! :)

By the way, you CAN throw the ball! You have to fling it with your mouse xD

Thanks!

Very interesting game for sure. I didn't get to the end, but I really enjoyed what I played. Keep it up. ... Also screw the Mr. X like monster.

Here's my channel for other games I have played. https://www.youtube.com/@Levont

Thanks so much!

GG @Aaron. Said nope quite a few times. Not my kind of game, but this is impressive. Cheers mate, and good luck!

LMAOOO

Thanks so much, Michael, means a lot! :D

Really nice game but the boss fight was bit hard. 5/5

Thanks so much!!! Can't wait to watch the video! :D

Welcome. :)

cool vibes silent hill .

Thanks for playing! So glad taking the time to translate the game paid off.

Really good teaser demo but I suffered a lot during that boss fight because I went into that last room with very low health and the two medkits were not much help :/ It took me way too long to notice that you are not supposed to fight that one enemy so I wasted most of my ressources that way and I did not really feel like starting all over again tbh. So maybe you should at least heal players for the boss to make sure it won't end in frustration. Even knowing the pattern I felt it was really hard to survive with low health. Anyway this is some promising work and the atmosphere was great. It reminds me of Cry of Fear and I think I'll get the Founders Edition to support you.

Thanks so much!

There's quite a few medkits scattered around if you look around enough, but tbf some of them are quite hidden.

I'll have to continue exploring ways to telegraph not being able to fight that one enemy, so thanks very much for that feedback!

I think I found all of them but wasted pretty much all of them in my pointless fight against the knife thing. Perhaps an option to reload previous checkpoints would be helpful.

Yeah, telegraphing this better will be a priority for an upcoming patch. Thanks again!
